An award-winning photographer and multimedia artist of Antiguan-Haitian lineage, has swiftly made a name for herself in the art world with her evocative use of rich textures and captivating compositions. Based out of Baltimore and New York, Ayana's journey in photography began a mere three years ago. As a self-taught artist, she has refined her skills through a process of continuous exploration and experimentation.

Despite her relatively recent entry into the art scene, Ayana has already garnered significant recognition for her distinctive perspective and whimsical approach to photography.

am a Maryland-based photographer. My work focuses on the subjects of identity led by my Haitian / Antiguan background and American upbringing. I aim to showcase the complexities of black lives and the beauty in culture and challenge norms that place individuals in boxes.

I discovered a love for photography at a young age but chose a different path in my academic career. After graduating with honors, amongst the uncertainty of lockdown, prompting a period of self reflect where I used film photography to explore identity and culture through storytelling.

In my current body of work, I focus on reimagining the grand narrative of art history with black subjects as the central figures. Through composition, styling, and storytelling, I work to empower people of color to be seen and heard in a field where they have been underrepresented for centuries.

My work has been selected by Vogue Italia: Photovogue and was awarded ‘Pic of the Day’ by Alessia Glaviano, Head of Global Photovogue. I was published in the May 2023 issue of Prazzel and featured in Shoutout Atlanta, Voyage Baltimore, and Canvas Rebel.
